In terms of size, Borzois are relatively large dogs, standing 26-28 inches tall and weighing approximately 60-105 pounds. The average lifespan of a Borzoi is 9-14 years.

Personality wise, this is an adaptable but sensitive breed. Despite their large size, Borzois can adapt to apartment living because they are mellow by nature. However, they are sensitive dogs and do not do well if left alone for long periods of time. This breed can tolerate cold weather quite well but also does well in warmer climates.

Borzois are moderately affectionate and playful dogs that do reasonably well with young kids and other dogs. Given their size, young children should, however, always be supervised when around Borzois.

Your Borzoi will be neither excessively reserved nor overly friendly with strangers. These dogs make reasonably good watchdogs. They can be challenging to train however because of a stubborn streak in their nature. Training a Borzoi requires plenty of patience.

Prospective owners of Borzois should know that this breed has high energy levels and needs lots of physical exercise and mental stimulation on a daily basis.

In terms of grooming care, Borzois have a medium length curly or silky coat that sheds a fair amount, especially during the annual shedding season which lasts several weeks. The coat requires a brushing every couple of days. Borzois are not heavy droolers.

In summary, Borzois are large, graceful, fast, and strong dogs with a sweet temperament and laidback nature. They have a luxurious and attractive coat that requires a fair amount of grooming effort. Borzois can be a little stubborn and are not overly affectionate. This is a dignified breed that does not enjoy roughhousing but nevertheless needs plenty of daily exercise and room to run. Keep in mind that Borzois are hounds with a strong prey drive and they must be kept on leash or in a fenced yard.
