Joe amd I have been showing and loving dogs for a combined 95 years. Joe was bitten by the toy Manchester bug and the Dachshund bug got me!! I started showing dogs at the tender age of 6,and has shown many breeds to their championship in the conformation ring and I also loved every second I was in the obedience ring' ..I was lucky enough to get to show a few Rat Terriers for a lovely lady and fell in love with the breed!! I had to have one...two..three!! Jazz was my first Rat Terrier and this girl came out of the gate running she was shown in puppy 4 to 6 and was a group placer and earned her puppy achiever award.. She finished her championship in 2 weekends of showing..taking the breed over the seasoned specials!! She completed her Grand Championship just as fast!! she is a beautiful girl with a nice temperament and does she love to show!... Even though Joe and I are relatively new to the rat terrier world we bring to the table a wealth of information and knowledge to be shared with everybody This only comes with many many years of experience ..we want nothing more than to produce the best rat terrier that we possibly can and have a lot of fun while we're doing it We have absolutely fallen in love with this breed and want to see it excel to its utmost potential!! My husband and I have been breeding and exhibiting dogs since 1973. We began with Shetland Sheepdogs and began breeding longhair dachshunds in 1998. In 2003 we purchased our first wirehair dachshund and she was a group and specialty winning dachshund. She produced one 10 champions for us. In 2007 we purchased another wirehaired dachshund female from a different line and that line has proven to be most successful for us. M Keshlear lives in So Belton, Texas and shows/breeds mini Dachshunds. I am a Silver Breeder of Merit so I have had over 50 champions with many performance titles on my dogs. I have 2 mini smooth males available to pet homes. They are about 8 wks now. I am taking them outside in the morning to get used to following me outside. I only use animals in my lines that represent the Standard. I breed for intelligence so I try to place mine with people who can keep up with them and respect that about them. I breed true miniatures - most will be under 11 lbs - 30 yrs of breeding and showing in performance and conformation events. ////Pets $1500/ $1800 to $3000 for a show dog adults $800 and most will be fixed before leaving. We take special care to do many hours of sensory input including loud noises, car rides, submersing the body up to the neck in water, and too many more examples to list. This method embeds memories that definitely affect behaviors later in life, such as not to be startled at loud noises, perhaps to become a swimming dog, and too many more to list. I'm against crate training, specifically using a crate with metal bars especially over long periods of time. We do recommend a soft crate however because dogs are den animals that need a dark quiet safe place as a refuge. Ultimately all of our dogs and all of our babies are in the bed with us every night snoring in our ear cuddling against our neck, heartbeat to heart beat, breath to breath, and we wouldn't have it any other way! Unlike other breeders who may have nine females, kept in a kennel, and puppies may or may not get some attention or touch; these super special rarities here share our life, and ARE our life! My parents were dog breeders of Irish setters I literally was going to AKC shows while I was in diapers. I thought it was quite normal for everyone to have dogs around them and be consumed in their life with dogs and everything about them. We had dachshunds as indoor pets and later in life I was a breeder of Labradors for decades, with amazing success. When by chance I came back to the Dachshund breed I realized what I had been missing, and I've been faithful to them ever since. Dachshunds have personalities bigger than any dog I've ever met. They're not for everyone but for those who understand that for such a small dog they have the largest personality that can be found of any dog, there's no other that will do. We absolutely love to show off and welcome you to come to our home and meet the family and catch this infectious passion!! What we do, the whole process, is an absolute work of love. Now for the next couple of months we expect to get very little sleep, but in the end the Mommy and Daddy's who send us back photos, videos, amazing stories, and who compliment us on how different and absolutely wonderful their new family members are, they make everything we do worth it. I could care less about the money, the real reward is the former mentioned and especially when it is noticed by all you know and meet, that you have something special that can be plainly be beheld but more so sensed. Shady Oaks Kennels is a small kennel on 8 acres in the country near Greenville, Tx. We are dedicated to producing the healthiest and ultimately the best representation of Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Dachshunds. Our litters are raised in our home and are very well socialized. They love being with their family and will be happy to share the sofa and bed with you. AKC proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders.
