Great Danes make amazing family pets. They’re sweet, affectionate, playful, and gentle, which makes them ideal for families with kids. They also get along well with other dogs and are very friendly towards strangers.
However, Great Danes are big dogs and they do not adapt well to apartment living. They are not the ideal choice for novice pet owners either. In terms of adaptability to hot and cold weather, Great Danes adapt better to warmer climates than they do to cold climates, so that is something people in Ohio should keep in mind.
Another thing to be aware of is that a Great Dane is a sensitive dog who does not do well if left alone for long periods. So, if you are someone who is away from home for long hours every day, this may not be the ideal breed for you.
In terms of grooming, Great Danes are easy to groom and pretty much brush-and-go dogs. However, they do shed a lot and drool a fair amount.
