Casey Powell is from New York and breeds Pembroke Welsh Corgis. We breed the small percentage of Corgis that cannot get the two most common Corgi diseases. Degenerative Myelopathy or DM is Lou Gehrig's disease in dogs. Our puppies cannot get this disease. They also cannot get a blood clotting disorder called von Willebrand's (vWD). We have been breeding Corgis for over 20 years. We also do not line or in breed. We supply you with an AKC extended pedigree to illustrate that our puppies are an outcross. That doesn't mean we don't have the best and most beautiful bloodlines in the world. We have a combination of bloodlines from some of the most accomplished show dogs from specifically Argentina, Lithuania, Australia, Germany etc... I grew up in upstate New York on a farm. I was 4 when I got my first dog "Pepper" and it seemed every lost or stray dog showed up on our farm. I intended to be a veterinarian but started a small kennel when I was 19. And soon became a dog groomer, and did boarding which rounded out my life.Over the years I worked and learned from vets, other groomers and home courses , and seminars. I now have Pembroke Welsh Corgi., West Highland white terriers, and the breed I started with in 1969, Mini Dachshunds. I believe if you take care of the dogs they take care of you, I breed for quality not quantity. I still do some boarding and grooming. Still go to seminars and still love what I'm doing . And most of all still love my dogs. I have many references and repeat friends who come back when ready for another new companion. AKC proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders. We are conveniently located within driving distance from most north-eastern areas. (NYC+Philly, Boston all within 3-4 hour drive). We have been raising, showing and breeding dogs for well over 30 years, working to build our lines up to what they are now. Absolutely no mix breeding designer dogs. We have 15 acres in the rolling hills of Upstate N.Y. We have the dogs, a gelding draft horse and a tom cat that adores to socialize with puppies. Our girls are only bred once a year if that, starting at a mature age of two years and retire at age of five. Our dogs and their pups have a large temperature controlled building, outdoor play areas, a pond and acres of natural environment to enjoy. While we do have pens for their safety there is no such thing as a kennel dog here. We have been active members in our local kennel club and my children members of the youth 4-H canine club. We have shown in AKC point shows, local AKC sanctioned matches and Obedience Competitions. Even though I am a stay at home mom and devote all my time to our country home and the dogs, I have studied courses in Veterinary Technology but have degrees in Paralegal and Human Development so I understand how crucial truth and ethics along with breeding healthy sound animals are when it comes to investing in a purebred dog.
