Both parents have sweet and personable personalities, and live with their respective owners as important family members. Sire hunts regularly and dam loves to play with her friends, watch for foul, and retrieve toys. Parents have Good/Exc Hips, Normal Elbows OFA Certificates, and are DNA tested for DM/EIC/PRA-PRCD/CDPA/CDDY-IVDD. Pups get full AKC Registration, Microchip with enrollment, first Vet visit and vax, and regular wormings. Litters are staggered throughout the year, and a new litter is always expected shortly. We are a home breeder, continuously owning Chesapeake Bay Retrievers for over 30 years. This is our 4th litter of registered Chessies (having also bred other dogs in the past). The puppies are given lots of personal attention, human contact, and backyard playtime. Currently, our adult dogs are Poppy and one of her puppies from a previous litter (seen in photos). Poppy is a high-energy hunting dog, who loves to run free, has no sense of humor (she's all work), can kill a skunk without getting sprayed, and could jump 8-foot fences until she had puppies. The sire, Otis, is quite the gentleman. His polite manners and calm demeanor helped Poppy fall in love with him at first sight. This is their second litter together, and both times the puppies have displayed a rainbow of colors, as well as a rainbow of personalities. Therefore, we can custom-match puppies with their owners by personality. The puppy we kept from Poppy's last litter is easier to train than her mom. In fact, thanks to Otis's influence, she is the most trainable Chessie we have ever owned, including being a good bicycle dog (staying focused while running next to our teen on her bike). Yet, she retains her mom's astonishing agility. So, we feel Otis and Poppy are a match made in Heaven!
